I’m currently working with MODIS Level-2 Ocean Color data in a region close to the Norwegian Sea. Within my defined region of interest (ROI), I’ve noticed a large number of L2 granules available on certain days on Earthdata Search. However, many of these granules only cover a small part of the ROI.
I suspect the high number of images is related to the region’s proximity to the poles, where orbital swathes overlap more frequently. Is that correct?
Also, is there an efficient way to filter and select granules that cover at least a certain percentage (e.g., 50%) of the ROI rather than retrieving all granules that intersect it?
Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
